What’s up, Newgrounds? We just released our newest* film: Gearbevel City!

This one’s near and dear to our hearts, as this was the first thing we ever produced together. It’s our namesake production. GEARhead, GEARbevel… you get it.

Gearbevel City was our senior film, produced at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), it’s where most of us met for the first time.

Despite being older, it’s something we’re still proud of. We wanted to get it out to the public a while back but the time just wasn’t right.

The film took us our full senior year to produce, and the experience directly informed the development of our other productions.

We’ve got a few things cooking up for later, but for now: check out something special from our archives.

GEARBEVEL CITY:

HEY everyone!

We just dropped a brand-new, 13 minute long horror-comedy short: Oatmeal the Snowman 2: Steel-Cut Oats. A punched-up, fully animated sequel to an amateur short made in PowerPoint over 10 years ago by members of the same team.

A crudely made snowman comes back for his long-awaited revenge on the grown-up versions of the four children who created him many years ago.

While wrapping up our FLCL Reanimated OP Animation project, there was room for a second team within StudioGEARHEAD to start making something new. From concept to upload, the whole process took about 3 months. Shorter than the intro! Crazy!!!

The new film is directed & animated by absolute animation machine @CartMart.

With additional animation by local legends @KGamer01 & @BittyBugg.

Hello NEWGROUNDS!!! We're StudioGEARHEAD, a full-service indie animation studio currently in formation. We've been helping out with all sorts of smaller projects throughout 2024. You may have seen some of our contributions in Dreamcast Collab and NGTV Winter Marathon.

As a team, we've been around on here for a few months. Individually, we've been users for years. Some of us, since the 2000's! The frontpage feature for FLCL Reanimated OP was something out of a dream for many of us on the team. We're glad you guys all seemed to like it. So, THANK YOU!!!

We put a lot of time and energy into that project, and we're super proud of the grand result. The final collab is going to rock hard, and we're just as excited as anyone else to see the full release.

Most of the team met in-person, at art school. Since graduation, we've been talking about grouping back up and starting something new. This was our first full production together since art school.

We wanted to come back in a big way. Between helping out on projects, meeting a ton of members of this amazing community, and this intro, we think we're off to a good start.
